Explore Yuma’s Great Outdoors

There’s nothing like getting outside when the temperatures are mild and the sun is shining.

Imperial Sand Dunes are always a showstopper just a short drive from town, and it feels like stepping onto another planet. Whether you’re into off-roading, sandboarding, or simply watching the sunset over the dunes, it’s an experience you won’t forget.

Another must-see is Castle Dome Mines Museum & Ghost Town. Walking through the old mining camp feels like traveling back in time. It’s such a neat place to explore with friends or family.

And for a peaceful afternoon, Mittry Lake is my go-to. You can fish, kayak, or just sit back and enjoy the quiet desert scenery it’s a great way to unwind.

Take a Stroll or a Scenic Hike

Yuma has so many beautiful spots to stretch your legs.

I love heading to East Wetlands Park it’s peaceful, filled with wildlife, and perfect for a morning walk or bike ride along the river.

If you’re up for something more adventurous, the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge is breathtaking. The rugged mountains, unique desert plants, and wide-open views remind me how lucky we are to live in such a stunning place.

Step Back in Time

As a local, I always recommend our historic sites to anyone visiting.

Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park is one of my top picks it’s full of fascinating stories about the Old West (and yes, a few ghost tales too!).

Nearby, the Colorado River State Historic Park tells the story of how Yuma became such an important crossing point in early Arizona history. Both are great ways to spend a sunny winter afternoon.

Seasonal Events You Won’t Want to Miss

Winter is when Yuma really comes alive with local events and festivals!

One of my favorites is Yuma Lettuce Days, where we celebrate our incredible agriculture with farm tours, food demos, and of course delicious local produce.

The Downtown Christmas Lighting and North End holiday events are full of small-town charm. There’s just something special about strolling through historic downtown Yuma with music, lights, and hot cocoa in hand.

And if you love art, Art in the Park in January is a beautiful way to spend the day with local artists, handmade goods, and live entertainment all under our sunny skies.

Fun for the Whole Family

When family or friends come to visit, Z Fun Factory is always a hit go-karts, mini golf, and arcade games make it easy to spend a fun afternoon.

Or, for something a little more relaxed, we’ll walk through Arizona Market Place or the Yuma Swap Meet you never know what treasures you’ll find, and the food stands are always worth stopping for!

Eat, Shop, and Enjoy Local Flavor

Yuma’s food scene is such a treat, especially in winter when patio dining is perfect. From local Mexican favorites to riverside restaurants with sunset views, there’s something for everyone.

And for those who love local finds, our weekend markets are the best spots to pick up handmade crafts, produce, or gifts.
